Isle of Skye Hiking Tours

Explore a selection of Skye’s iconic trails on a bespoke hiking tour with a private guide.

Your guide, Trev, will pick you up and drive to your choice of Skye hikes such as The Old Man of Storr, The Quiraing & The Fairy Pools.

Enjoy the beauty of Skye as we drive between hikes. We’ll stop along the way for lunch / coffee at the best eateries on Skye.

I’m based in Fort William so Skye bookings are 2 days minimum. This can be two hiking tours or one day can be a guided hike.

Skye Hiking Tour Itinerary

Below is an example 2 day Skye hiking tour itinerary. Tours are flexible so you can choose your hikes and which order you do the days in. You also have the option of a full-day hike on one of the days. Essentially, you have a driver / guide for two days on Skye so we can be flexible.

I tend to stay around Uig so collection from Portree is usually 8am. Contact me if you’ll be staying at another part of Skye e.g. Broadford, Carbost or Dunvegan.

Example Trotternish Itinerary

14km / 8.7 miles

  • We’ll hike The Old Man of Storr first thing to beat the crowds [1.5+ hours / 5.5km / 3.4 miles].

  • Afterwards, we’ll drive straight to The Quiraing up the switchback road [1+ hour / 4.2km / 2.6 miles].

  • We’ll then drive over the Quiraing Pass to a short forest hike to Rha Waterfall [20 minutes / 0.6 km / 0.4 miles].

  • Afterwards, we’ll head round the rugged Trotternish peninsula to Flodigarry Hotel for lunch. Possibly grab a coffee from the quirky Bûrr cafe.

  • Our next hike is Brothers Point (Rubha nam Bràithrean) [1 hour / 2.8km / 1.7 miles].

  • On the way back to Portree, we’ll walk the path down to Lealt Falls [30 minutes / 1 km / 0.6 miles].

  • Optionally, we can pop in past The Cuillin Hills Hotel for a post hike drink with views over Portree Harbour.

Example Duirinish & Minginish Itinerary

12km / 7.5 miles

  • We’ll hike The Fairy Pools first thing to beat the crowds [1.5 hours / 5km / 3 miles].

  • Afterwards, we’ll visit the quaint village of Carbost for a coffee and/or oysters and walk to Carbost Burn Waterfall [45 minutes / 3.5 km / 0.6 miles].

  • We’ll then visit the famous Café Cùil for lunch (their beef brisket is legendary!).

  • On the drive to Dunvegan we’ll visit Dun Beag Broch and, if the tide times work, we’ll hike out to Oronsay via the causeway [1.25 hour / 4.6 km / 2.9 miles].

  • Alternatively, we could head out to Neist Point to walk out to the lighthouse.

  • Afterwards, we’ll walk along to the stunning Coral Beach [1 hour / 3.8km / 2.4 miles].

  • A 45 minute drive takes us back to Portree. Possibly via The Stein Inn to top off the days hiking.

Please note that some eateries aren’t open every day, so we need to be flexible.
There are other lunch options available, or you can bring a packed lunch.
