Glencoe Hiking Tour Itinerary

13km / 8 miles

Here’s an example Glencoe hiking tour itinerary:

  • I’ll collect you from your accommodation at 8:15am in Fort William and drive down the rugged West Coast to Glencoe.

  • If you’re staying in / around Glencoe then I’ll collect you closer to 8:45am.

  • We’ll drive to The Three Sisters viewpoint and hike the forested gorge to the secluded Hidden Valley [2.5 hours / 4km / 2.5 miles].

  • Afterwards, we’ll visit the traditional Clachaig Inn for lunch via the scenic route past Signal Rock [15 mins / 1 km / 0.6 miles].

  • We’ll then hike hidden forest trails past redwoods to Glencoe Lochan with views to the Pap of Glencoe [45+ mins / 3 km / 1.8 miles].

  • Afterwards, you could grab a coffee from Inverness Coffee Roasters at Glencoe Farm Shop & Café.

  • Our next hike is the forested Brecklet Trail past the slate quarry and moss covered abandoned houses [45+ mins / 3 km / 1.8 miles].

  • On the route back to Fort William, if we have time, we’ll finish the tour with a visit to Inchree Falls [30 mins / 2 km / 1.3 miles].

  • Alternatively, I can drop you off in Ballachulish to spend some more time in the area and you can return to Fort William by bus.

Please note that some eateries aren’t open every day, so we need to be flexible.
There are also lunch options available in Ballachulish, or you can bring a packed lunch.

Glencoe Hike Options

Hiking tours are flexible so you can choose which walks suit you best. We just need to choose the first hike as we can discuss while driving / hiking.

We could even combine some hikes form the Fort William / Glenfinnan tour.

  • Grey Mares Tail (30 mins)

  • Inchree Falls (30 mins)

  • An Torr / Signal Rock (15-30 mins)

Note that The Hidden Valley hike has some tricky terrain and 370m / 1,220 feet of ascent, so it’s not suitable for everyone. In peak season (mid-July to mid-September), The Hidden Valley needs to be the first hike due to parking limitations.
