Skye Guided Hikes
Skye has some of the best hiking routes and views in Scotland. Summit Scotland offers a range of guided Skye hikes including Bruach na Frìthe, Bla Bheinn and Sgùrr na Strì.
I’m based in Fort William so for Skye, I only take bookings for 2 days minimum. This can be two guided hikes or one of the days can be a hiking tour. I cannot guide you on technical Cuillin Ridge routes that require ropes i.e. The Inaccessible Pinnacle.
Here are a selection of guided Skye hikes. If you don’t see anything that interests you, or you have a specific route in mind, get in touch.
Sgurr na Stri
Distance: 10km / 6.2 miles
Ascent: 625m / 2,050 feet
Duration: 4-5 hours (plus ferry)
Difficulty: moderate
On a clear day, the summit of Sgurr na Stri is regarded as one of the best view on Skye.
The Misty Isle boat from Elgol to Loch Coruisk gives the best experience. A Maxi ticket for you/your group and me is an extra cost.
We can also walk in via Camasunary which adds 5km (3.1 miles) and 120m (394 ft) of ascent to the day.
Loch Coir a' Ghrunnda
Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles
Ascent: 720m / 2,362 feet
Duration: 5-6 hours
Difficulty: moderate
Loch Coir a' Ghrunnda is a small lochan at 700m above sea level with phenomenal views to the Soay Sound and Loch Brittle.
Optionally, we could add the Munro summit of Sgurr nan Eag which adds 1.6km (1 mile) and 240m (787 ft) of ascent to the day.
Red Hills: Glamaig & Beinnn a Cailleach
The Red Hills or Red Cuillin are the lower granite mountains to the south of Skye, near Broadford & Sligachan. There are multiple routes options:
From Sligachan, the northern Red Hills circuit summits the highest peak in the area, Glamaig at 775m (2,543 ft). There are variations, but the full route is 13km (8 miles) and 1,250m (4,101 ft) of ascent, a 6+ hour day.
The Red Hills circuit from Broadford is 7.8km (4.8 miles) with 962m (3,156 ft) of ascent, around 5 hours. This short ridge ridge walk includes the summits of two Fiona’s; Beinn na Caillich & Beinn Dearg Mhor.

Bla Bheinn (Blaven)
Distance: 8km / 5 miles
Ascent: 940m / 3,084 feet
Duration: 5-6 hours
Summits: 1 Munro
Difficulty: moderate to hard
Pronounced Blaven, this mountain is set apart from the main Cuillin Ridge and has great views from the summit. Other than some loose scree, Bla Bheinn is one of the easier Munros on Skye.
It’s accessed from Loch Slapin between Broadford and Elgol.
Bruach na Frithe
Distance: 13.5km / 8.4 miles
Ascent: 955m / 3,133 feet
Duration: 6-7 hours
Summits: 1 Munro
Difficulty: moderate to hard
A fantastic day in the mountains with phenomenal views. Bruach na Frithe is seen as one of the easiest on Skye but it’s still a challenge!
The usual start/finish is from Sligachan but we can also go from Glenbrittle and include the Fairy Pools in this hike.
